United States to J.J. Vandevert
The United States of America. To all to whom these presents shall come greeting: Whereas there has been deposited in the General Land Office of the United States, a certificate numbered 1081 of the Register and Receiver at Roseburg, Oregon, whereby it appears that under the provisions of the act of Congress approved the 27th day of September 1850 entitled “an act to create the office of Surveyor General of the public lands in Oregon and to provide for the Survey and to make donation to settlers of the said public lands” and the legislation supplemental thereto, the claim of Joshua J. Vandevert and his wife Grace Vandevert of Lane County, Oregon, Notification No. 609 has been established to a donation of One Half Section or 320 acres of land, and the same has been surveyed and designated as claim No 49 being part of Sections 14 + 15 in Township 20 South and Range 3 West according to the ___ ___ of Survey returned to the General Land Office by the Surveyor General being bounded and described as follows to wit: Beginning at a point 6.70 chains South and 22.00 chains West from the S.E. corner of Said Section 15 and running thence South 51.44 chains, thence East 84.19 chains thence North 90 chains Thence S 89 degrees 58 minutes South 46.08 chains; thence North 31.44 chains and thence West 80.00 chains to place of beginning containing 320.19 acres.
Now know ye that the United States of America in consideration of the premises and in conformity with the provisions of the act aforesaid have given and granted and by these ___ do give an grant unto the said Joshua J. Vandevert and to his heirs the East half and unto his wife, the said Grace Vandevert and to her heirs the West half of the tract of land above described, to have and to hold the said tract with the appurtenances, unto the said Joshua J. Vandevert and his wife Grace Vandevert and their heirs and assigns forever, their respective portions aforesaid.
In testimony whereof I, Andrew Johnson, President of the United States have caused these letters to be made patent and the seal of the General Land Office to be hereunto affixed.
